Some Zippos
These things work much better with actual Zippo fluid rather than that Ronsonol crap.

Zoe In Ruins
In April, progress decided that the building at 201 Bellemeade Street right behind my house was no longer needed. Fortunately I was granted access and had the opportunity to photograph my favorite model there. Less that one hour later, we watched the place come down.

Sticking To My Word…
…to shoot more fashion this year, I arranged this session with my friend Christopher Wilson and Zoe Shear. Chris provided the spectacular 1962 MGA, and Zoe simply provided the spectacular, as she always does. I've always felt extremely honored to work with Zoe, and since she's barely modeling at all these days, even more so. These were shot in Fisher Park, in Greensboro, NC on a beautiful day in March. I've also vowed to turn my edited photos around quicker, so this was a win on all counts, in my opinion.
I'm fortunate to have good looking friends and friends with good looking things.

More Fashion 2012
Deciding I want to shoot more pure fashion work this year. Real fashion models are a bit rare in NC, but Jovana is a good one.

A Breath of Fresh Air
In shooting fashion and artistic portrait photography for the last several years, I have met some wonderful people and some less than wonderful people. I always go into a shoot with a beginning model with optimism, but somewhat restrained expectations. Recently I met a gorgeous woman named Dawn, who easily exceeded even the highest hopes. They're always good looking (why bother otherwise?) but rarely as aware and confident in their presentation as this beautiful girl. Overconfidence bothers me about as much as anything in working with a new model, as to me, the chemistry between model and photographer is extremely important. Some of my work can be a little "challenging", though a lot of it, such as the examples here, depend greatly on the model's ability to improvise and pose without being a clichéd posing machine. Occasionally they "just get it".
Here's to hoping there will be many more sessions.
